31 Jan – 3 Feb 2012
From LCCT Kuala Lumpur, we left for Medan on Tuesday morning, end of January 2012, and at 8.45 am local time, we landed in Polonia International airport Medan. After finalizing all immigration and baggage matters, we moved out to Parapat, located in the edge of Lake Toba, and 176 km apart from Medan. On the way to Parapat, we stopped by at Patent Shop for buying Medan’s special snack (tengteng, tingting, pangpang, etc). At Danau Quality Parapat, we spent the night while enjoyed the gorgeous view of Lake Toba in the evening.
In the morning, we cruised Lake Toba to go to Samosir Island, a popular tourist destination due to its exotic history and its vistas. An area of 630 km², Samosir is the largest island within an island, and the fifth largest lake island in the world. Samosir is the large volcanic island in Lake Toba, where the lake and island were formed after the eruption of a super volcano some 75,000 years ago. In Samosir Island we visited Tomok Village to see the old Bataknese & old grave stone of King Sidabutar and Ambarita Village to see the primitive stone chairs & execution place made by King Sialangan.
Back to Parapat, we went directly to Berastagi, and also stopped at Simarjarunjung Hill to enjoy some of such scenery and took pleasure in Simalungun’s famous ginger tea and banana-fried to warm our body surrounded by chilly air. Our trip was continued to Sipisopiso Falls in Karo’s Kabanjahe area to see an extraordinary view of Lake Toba from Northern and overnight in Green Garden Berastagi.
On the way back to Medan, we stopped over at Kebun Jeruk (garden of orange fruit), where we can pick that orange fruit by ourselves and we can eat it as much as we can on the spot. At the lunch time we arrived in the North Sumatra’s Capital, Medan and directed to Maimoon Palace, the Grand Mosque, & Chinese Temple. We spent the night in Garuda Plaza Hotel.
After breakfast, we finalized our trip with visiting souvenir shops, Batik shops, Pasar Ikan, factory outlet, malls, etc. And the evening, we transferred to Airport for home. See u Medan. SEE OUR SLIDESHOW
